Welcome to the Marshalltown Fellowship of Christian Athletes Area Web Site
Guest List: All 7-12th graders Theme: The theme for this year is “Get Focused – Pursue the Prize” from Philippians 3:13-14. We will take a very unique look at what it meant for Paul to pursue the prize of the upward call in Christ Jesus and will challenge 7-12th graders, huddle leaders and coaches to learn what it means to focus their lives on pursing this upward call as well. Jaysson Gurwell (Greater Des Moines FCA Representative), Kevin Lykins (ISU FCA Representative) and Pastor Richard Sipe (First Baptist Church in Marshalltown) will combine to produce a powerful series of messages using drama and testimonies. You won’t want to miss this! Featured Speakers: Kevin Lykins is a former strength coach at Texas A&M and Stephen F. Austin before following God’s call to ministry. That call led him to seminary where he graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity in Biblical Languages degree. He also served as pastor at Pleasant Glade Baptist church in Colleyville, Texas before joining the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in May of 2007. Kevin works primarily on the Iowa State campus and volunteers as the Life Skills Coach for the ISU football team. Kevin, his wife Marcy and their three children (Delaney, Jake and Ellie) reside in Ames. Jaysson Gurwell has served on the FCA staff in the Greater Des Moines area for the last two years. He works with FCA huddles, coaches, camps and also serves as the Drake Football chaplain and spends a great deal of time working with kids in the inner city through FCA’s baseball program. He is currently working towards his seminary degree at Midwestern Theological Seminary and was a national champion boxer while attending Iowa State. Jaysson, his wife Leah and their four children (Layken, Ainsley, Levi and Judah) reside in Winterset, Iowa. Rev. Richard Sipe has been the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in Marshalltown for over 12 years. He has also pastored in El Dorado, Kansas and Coalinga, California. He has been the speaker at numerous FCA sport camps. He is an avid sports fan. Pastor Dick is known for his passion for Jesus. His positive outlook on life promotes enthusiastic Christian living! His teaching will give practical methods to live for Jesus everyday. Featured Guest Band: We are excited to announce our favorite band, The Tim Aaron Band, will once again provide an awesome music worship experience. The Tim Aaron Band was started in August of 2007. They hit the ground running, serving the local church and community in a number of events, including the Challenge Conference, Rebound, Sacred Assembly, the Covered Bridges Festival in Winterset, the Iowa Christian Academy's Fall Retreat, as well as, several of our previous FCA Weekend of Champions and summer Sports Camps in Pella. Membership consists of Tim Grubb, Geoffrey Safford, Jr., Eddie Buntenbach, and Jay Safford.
